The Momentum Center for Social Engagement is a social and recreational program for people with mental illness, addiction and developmental disabilities. Just Goods Gifts and Cafe' is housed within the Momentum Center. In addition to Fair Trade and Social Conscience hand-made merchandise, Just Goods serves Aldea Coffee, Leppinks donuts, Grand Finale' cookies, and teas from Luck Tea Cafe'. This public space encourages interaction throughout the community and strives to eliminate stigma.
The Momentum Center for Social Engagement will provide a space where people with mental illness, addiction and developmental disabilities can find social and recreational opportunities to build healthy relationships, engage in positive activities, and move out of isolation and into productive interaction in our community. It will have long reaching effects on individuals in our community and on our community as a whole.
The Momentum Center for Social Engagement will offer classes in art, exercise, breathing, and self-development. It will provide for offsite events and activities and provide transportation so that individuals can participate in Extended Grace events and Town Hall Meetings. At the same time, the integrated community space will also offer community classes and workshops to educate, inform, and reduce stigma.
The Momentum Center for Social Engagement also fills the need of having a tangible, physical location for people to learn about resources within the community. Despite our high tech society, people still long to be able to “touch” the information they seek. The Momentum Center will be a location for organizations to promote their programs, for up to date resource lists to be readily available, and for community activities to be announced and even hosted.
